I was born in Belgium, in Morlanwelz, on July 18, 1951. Youngest son of an Italian family of 7 children, I was raised by my mother. We were very poor and I understood that I had to work well at school. I thus obtained a doctorate in chemistry at the University of Mons. Then I became president of the socialist party, Prime Minister of Belgium and mayor of Mons for 18 yrars! . Now I am President of the Walloon government. I am famous for the red bow ties that I wear all the time. Who am I?

I was born in 612. Married to the Count of Hainault, I raised four children. After my husband Madelgaire retired to an abbey, I became a nun in 656. I founded my own convent and the city of Mons grew around it. I died on April 9, 688 or 686 and I became a Saint in 1039. the people of Mons organize every year a big celebration in my honor and the main church of Mons bears my name and shelters my relics.
